An unmistakable low growing flower with 5 petals and 10 stamens around a two-part seed capsule formed of divergent "horns".  This cushion plant is about 2 inches tall.

A cushion plant with densely packed dark green leaves, covered at flowering time with bright pink flowers that lie flat on the surface.  The cushion is about 2 to 3 inches high.

Arctic Hairy Lousewort
Svalbard archipelago
This flower, related to the snapdragon, has spikes of flowers and finely cut leaves easily mistaken for tiny fern fronds.   Nine species grow in the Arctic.  It is coated with hairs and is an eastern species, unlikely to be found west of 100 degrees west longitude.  It can grow to 10 inches tall.
